Captique
®

Is a hyaluronic acid based gel dermal filler administered by injection into facial creases, deep folds, and wrinkles.  No pre-testing for allergic reaction is necessary as it is formulated with plant-based hyaluronic acid, which attracts and binds water to hydrate the skin cells and create a smoother skin surface.

It can be administered to any part of the face or neck, including around the eyes and nose areas, between the eyebrows, smile lines on either side of the mouth, vertical lip lines, cheeks, jawline, and forehead.  Captique is thought to cause less swelling and bruising than some other HA dermal fillers.  The affects last from 4-6 months, which is somewhat longer than other dermal fillers, but this varies from individual to individual.

Approved by the FDA in 2004, it is one of a group of widely used HA gel dermal fillers, and is often used together with other skin rejuvenation procedures such as collagen and Botox® Cosmetic injections.

Chemical Peeling

Chemical peeling is a beauty treatment dating back over 3,000 years to the Egyptians who bathed in milk and used fermented grapes, substances which contain natural chemicals which remove skin cells and soften and smooth the outer surface of the skin.

Peeling is now one of the most popular non-surgical forms of facial skin regeneration treatments, used at home, in cosmetic beauty spas, and by dermatologists and plastic surgeons. The products used contain numerous forms of acids which act on the epidermal layer of the skin to remove the buildup of dead or discolored cells and stimulate the skin to produce new cells.  The stronger acids, which act on deeper skin layers for more lasting effects, can be dangerous unless applied by experienced and licensed physicians under controlled conditions.

A few of the acids used are alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic or lactic acid, beta hydroxy acids such as salicylic acid, or phenol.

CosmoDerm®, CosmoPlast®

CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast® are injectable dermal fillers formulated using purified collagen from human dermal tissue grown under controlled conditions.  Because these fillers are non-animal based the likelihood of allergic reactions is minimal and no pre-treatment skin test is required.  They are generally used in combination in one treatment session on wrinkles varying from fine lines to deep creases. Results generally last from 3 to 5 months.

Dermabrasion

Dermabrasion surgically alters the skin’s dermis.  Dermabrasion (not to be confused with microdermabrasion, which is a separate, much less invasive, procedure) is a controlled surgical smoothing of the deeper skin layer of the skin, the dermis.

Dermabrasion is a plastic surgery procedure most often used together with other surgical procedures, such a face lift or rhinoplasty (nose restructure).  It is also used to remove previous surgical scars or skin irregularities such as keratoses or deep acne pitting.  Although some creases and wrinkles can be treated by dermabrasion, it is not a recommended treatment to correct symptoms of skin ageing.

Dermabrasion is performed under local anesthetic usually combined with a sedative.  A surgical instrument with a diamond dust sander is used to smooth the dermis layer of the skin. The area where the treatment was performed will be swollen, red, and sensitive for several weeks following surgery until new skin is formed.  A scab or crust will form which will fall off as the new skin grows.

Although recovery time is longer than for some other surgical procedures, results can be dramatic and the effects are permanent.
